Privacy Program Framework
Central 1 Credit Union is the primary liquidity manager, payments processor and trade association for their member credit unions in B.C. and Ontario. They provide financial products, investment banking services, payment processing solutions and direct banking services, as well as leadership and advocacy on behalf of the credit unions they represent.
Central 1 Credit Union realized that clients and businesses have different objectives when it comes to sharing and protecting personal information. Past approaches to privacy have either focused on enabling business interests, or on enforcing business policies on privacy. Whereas the privacy advocates’ sole focus is on the clients need for mechanisms to gain more control over their personal information to ensure its accuracy and, audit for themselves how businesses are using the information. As a result, Central 1 Credit Union required a Privacy Program Framework which would establish a balance between these interests as well as ensure compliance with the ten basic privacy principles of the CSA Model Code.
